What a day!
So, this morning at about 2:30 am. I hear a thump on the floor, thinking Colton has fallen out of bed, I hear him start crying, so I get up and go to his room and his door is open, which I close it at night and he's not in bed. I hear him crying upstairs, so I go upstairs and turn on the light, because I can't see him and he's laying on the floor crying and saying that the light is bright. So, I'm thinking one of two things happened, either he fell off the chair while trying to get the remote control for the T.V. or he had gone up earlier and fell asleep in the chair and fallen out of it. I'm pretty sure he fell getting the remote. He's been doing this in the morning, but never during the middle of the night/morning. So, I guess I need to find the safety gate and put it up in front of the stairs so he can't go up, but can come in our room if he needs us. He finally went back to sleep for good around 5:30am, there were some more ups and downs with him. And the little stinker wouldn't take a nap, he just read books and played for the whole hour. At least I had a few minutes to myself.
The other thing, yesterday we accepted and signed a counter offer on the home. It looks like our closing date will be April 1, 2010 and no it's not an April Fool's joke. We just need to wait for the appraisal and everything else the mortgage company has to do. We have been approved for the loan amount, so it's just all the other details. We are excited to have our own place, and to have something we can grow into. It won't take a whole lot of work to finish the basement, which will be nice, everything is framed and insulated already, we just need to do the sheet rock on three of the rooms and flooring, and putting in the fixtures in the bathroom, it's fully plumbed, just need the goods. We will need to put a lawn in, and one day fence it, but that can come later. It's 5 bdrms, 2 bath finished and 1 bdrm, 1 family room, 1 bathroom, laundry room, unfinished all of which are in the basement. 2 of the bedrooms in the basement are completely finished. It will be weird having a brand spanking new home that no one has ever lived in, but will be exciting to have a place to call our own.
So, for the rest of today, Matt works right now for training, from 3 pm- 10 pm. He is really enjoying it. They have a good retention rate and lots of opportunities to move up in the company, once he has his degree. The higher positions require a degree, which is nice at times. The only time requirement is 6 months on the job, before you can try to move up. He is doing very well at this job and really likes it. It's funny, we've been telling Colton, when he asks where daddy is at? We say, he's at work, making money for us to get a house. He says, Oh! House! It's really cute. Colton loved house hunting and looking at homes, he likes the one that we are getting, he keeps saying my house.
So, nights are kinda different with just Colton and I. Tonight we took dinner to a lady in the ward that had surgery. Usually Colton is shy around people he doesn't know, but he went into their home and started running and doing somersaults. She an older lady, she has 2 great-grandchildren. I told Colton to calm down, and Neeltje, said, oh him play, it's so nice to have a little one around. So, he played with a wooden rocking horse that Fred her husband had made and played with her stuffed animal that was a pig. It was fun seeing him play and have fun somewhere else. Neeltje and I had a nice visit. She is a wonderful lady.
Then we came home and Colton and I had dinner, then did the dishes and took the garbage out and of course he had to help. It was really cute. I said, I was just going to run the garbage out and he said, Mommy, please wait, my shoes. How could I not wait, when he asked so sweetly. So he carried out the recycle for me. Then we came in and played Wii games, he loves Mario Cart and Baseball. Then we watched Mickey Mouse ClubHouse DVD with a train, he absolutely loves it, thanks Grammy, I think, at least we are off the Cars for now. Then we played and laughed. Then read scriptures. We are almost through with the Book Of Mormon, we read Moroni chapters 3 and 4 tonight and Colton takes his turn repeating a verse or two. Then I was reading and it was the sacrament prayers, I was just reading not really paying much attention and Colton pipes up and says, "mommy, sacrent" meaning Sacrament. I was so touched and moved by the spirit at the same time, that this sweet little 2 year old, recognizes the sacrament prayers and knows what they are to some extent. Then he wanted to say the prayer tonight, there is nothing more touching than a sweet little child, talking to his Heavenly Father, with help, but still, the desire is there. I am truly blessed to have such a sweet spirit to watch over and see him grow. I love him so much. I love Matt so much and I'm so thankful for his hard work in going to school and working full time and he's going to take on another bachelor's degree through work and wants to get his master. I am truly, truly blessed. Heavenly Father does answer prayers and knows what is best for you and when the time is right and you have done everything you can do, he pours blessings out. It is so amazing!
